Shadows in the Sheds

It's no surprise that artists, film-makers, photographers, musicians, poets et al get over-excited about the creative possibilities of Greenock's historic Sugar Sheds.

The other night, on his voyage around the UK coastline in Britain and the Sea, David Dimbleby followed the trade routes of the west coast of Scotland along the channels that cut through the Highlands and brought wealth and prosperity to the heart of Scotland.

The programme highlighted the importance of the sea to Britain's trade and to individual livelihoods of coastal communities.

On this voyage, Dimbleby visited the Sugar Sheds in Greenock.

The episode, entitled Trade and Romance is still on BBC iPlayer.

This picture was taken by Absent Voices artist Alastair Cook, who combines a passion for architecture with a love of photography, filmmaking and poetry.
