Buckland

Rather bizarrely this is where we are living for the six weeks over Christmas and the New Year. Quite a pleasant grade II listed pile on the edge of Dartmoor with stunning views down wooded valleys and up to the moor itself. A tough job but someone has to do it.....
I am hoping that we - or more particularly Tricia - does not get too used to living in the huge gracious high-ceilinged rooms that we currently inhabit.
As with all things there is a (very slight) down side - last night the burglar alarms went off at 5:23 am. I had to get up and wander around inside and outside around the myriad of out-buildings to see if I could find out why - and all the time hoping I wouldn't come across some felon engaged in his employment.
Having found nothing I ended up phoning the company after an hour to be told "Every 180 days the system automatically phones in to the central database and this time the passwords did not match so the alarm was set off." Great - 5:23 am in the morning? Why?
The good thing is we won't be here in 180 days time so should escape the next event. We had been out to dinner with a local couple till late the evening before and so, with a very limited amount of sleep, the day was a write off in effect.
