There was nothing particularly wrong with the way my light was mounted, attached to an angle bracket which was clamped with a hoseclamp to the handlebars, but I wanted to neaten things up a bit and replace the angle bracket before it disappeared in a cloud of oxidation. The new mount sees it level with the road surface in normal use rather than canted a few degrees to port, mounted almost centrally on the bars above the otherwise unusable stem clamp section.
