Times Three

This is a view from my regular Wednesday morning walk to St Andrews House on the edge of Calton Hill in Edinburgh.

It is "times three" because of the three buildings of significance in it.

In the distance is the Burns Memorial , the re-opening of which I attended in 2009 when I was Culture Minister.

In the middle ground is Panmure House, the Edinburgh Home of Adam Smith which is at long last being restored for academic use.

And in the foreground is one of the arched passageways from Sir Basil Spences's Canongate Project, completed in 1969.

Walks in Edinburgh can be like that - rich in every detail!
