Annie Lebovitz

Today Gina and I drove to the Columbia, South Carolina Museum of Art to see the Annie Lebovitz exhibit. Unlike her formal portraits, this was a reflection on famous individuals (mostly Americans) through images of things related to their lives.

While in Columbia, we also visited the at the University of South Carolina. It featured a show entitled "Defying the Quiet: Photography of the Civil Rights Movement in South Carolina". Most of the images were from 1960 to 1963 and the exhibit included videos of Bobby Kennedy and various civil rights leaders. Interesting, because just across town on the State Building grounds, flies the flag of the Confederacy.
