Morning Coffee Hedgehog

During our customary coffee at the local café, a discussion at the neighbouring table erupted regarding an animal that was courageously negotiating the crowded road about 30 yards away. Guesses regarding species ranged from squirrel to mole, via my own suggestions of tail-less rat or alien. Only one sharp-eyed companion - I think it was Eileen - correctly identified it. I was sent out on safari into the wilds of West Kilbride with my ever-present pocket camera to verify it as a hedgehog, by that time safely searching for worms amongst the late autumn leaves in the park.
