Bit of a Blow

The promised winds and snows arrived on schedule on Shetland this morning.

Ferries have been disrupted, local buses suspended, flights cancelled and roads decidedly icey. So far not too much snow on the ground at the south end of Shetland, the snow that has been falling has mostly been falling sideways.

I did venture out for a brief look at the waves in Quendale Bay - the temperature was just below freezing, but the winds ensured that walking was a high risk undertaking and meant that, with wind-chill, the temperature felt like -10C.
