Camping it up

Last 24 hours:

Overnight storms (well predicted)
3 power cuts (predictable)
Roads and railways thrashed (as predicted and prepared for)
Wailing and hyperbole from the ill-prepared and some media nitwits (depressingly predictable)

So, after snapping it at the jaunty angle which befits a camp stove, I brewed peacefully, listened to the wind-up radio, ate the provisions laid in, enjoyed a book by candlelight and felt just a teeny bit more content than I probably should.

(here's hoping the southern east coasters have a better night than predicted)
