Bronte Parsonage, Haworth

Today was the peace after the storm and in the lovely sunshine, this is Bronte Parsonage, the onetime home of the world famous authors, the Bronte Sisters. In this vicarage, now a museum, the sisters – Emily, Charlotte and Anne, lived with their brother Bramwell and their father Patrick, vicar of Haworth Parish Church, and it is here that they wrote many of their masterpieces - Jane Eyre, Wuthering Heights, Agnes Grey, The Tenant of Wildfell Hall and others. The rooms of the house are set out and furnished as they would have been during the sister’s lifetime, with many pieces of Bronte memorabilia on view. The blinds are kept lowered to exclude the sunshine, giving the house an eerie aspect, as though the Bronte ghosts are still very much in residence - talking, writing, reading, working in the kitchen... The feeling of their presence is so strong that If you listen carefully, you might hear them, and If you walk carefully and quietly you might even catch a glimpse of them out of the corner of your eye.
