The First of Autumn

As if we needed clarification today was the first day of autumn for all of us in the northern hemisphere (heating fired up for the first time last night, garden slowly being tucked away, barbecue retreating under cover, trees turning on the colour wheel from uniform green to various yellows, oranges and reds)

As near as damn it, there was 12 hours of daylight today, and there will be 12 hours of darkness tonight, give or take a few minutes. 94 days until Christmas (oh joy), 100 days until 2010 and a mere 179 days until the days start getting longer than the nights again and Spring will be back.
