"I got them runnin' in the park blues"

I used to run all the time for long distances. About two years ago something went awry in my right knee and everytime I'd run, I'd develop severe pain in the medial compartment of my knee. An old orthopod mentor once taught me to "let pain be your guide". I thought it good advice so I basically had to stop running. Plenty of biking and kayaking and still able to hike but no running.

But I love running on the beach in the sand right at the water's edge and I missed that joy. This summer I tried running at the beach and have very gingerly slowly increased my runs to one or two a week for just two or three miles and so far my knee doesn't hurt. Yea!!!
