tidal surge

Scarborough lifeboat station emerged from the dramatic tidal surge relatively unscathed. Both lifeboats were removed from the station in advance of the strong seas which surged through the building at high tide. The high sea flooded not just the lifeboat station but large parts of the seafront, drawing hundreds of fascinated onlookers. Most of the Foreshore, the West Pier and Sandside were covered by the exceptionally high tide.
