Life in Newburgh on Ythan

By Talpa

South Sea ladies.

On a cold, wet, winter's afternoon my mind tends to wander back to the South Seas where we lived in our younger days. These two beauties hail from the islands of the South Pacific. The one in front comes from North-Eastern New Guinea, from the village of Kambot on the Karem River. She has inlaid cowry shells for eyes and is covered in dried mud; she doesn't smell too good! The lady behind is also from New Guinea, probably from along the Sepik River, and used to have cassowary feathers for hair.

The real ladies of the South Pacific are infinitely more beautiful. See, for example, Laisa and Varanisese.
