Victorian Christmas

Tonight I went to another of my favourite local Christmas events (the Midlands is far more Christmassy than Sussex, it seems); a Victorian Christmas at Bantock House. They always have delicious mulled wine and mince pies (excellent value at £2 for both!). There's carol singing, a Christmas craft fayre and the house is all kitted out in Christmas decorations and costumed characters. I love the event (though it's always a nightmare to park at) and hope that Bantock House's threatened closure in the latest round of council budget cuts doesn't doom the event in future.

This happy chap was playing a melody of Christmas songs on a variety of instruments by a roaring fire and glorious tree. He was very popular and I sat here quite a while.
