Sallies*

We were too early for the Clic Sargent choir practice at St Andrew's and St George's and the service was just coming to a close.

Over the chatter of other 'earlies' in the foyer we could faintly hear that their choir was singing, so, wanting to listen, Mr Flum and I crept upstairs to stand behind the door to the gallery.

This area seems to double as the ringing chamber and, though the bellropes, with their colourful woolly sallies, are tied up out of reach of inquisitive visitors, they make an interesting blip.

*I'm sure someone will correct me if that is the incorrect plural for sally.
