Bright but cold on the ground...

... here in Bath, a sunny Winter's day.

It seems wind speeds are low across southern England but still capable of generating power. There are no major pockets of calm reported.

Wind speeds are generally higher at say 25m or 50m Above Ground Level. The drag effect at ground level is quite noticeable, reducing the wind speeds we humans experience.

Wind turbines are taller than people.
