First time back in Christchurch since all the earthquakes. City centre unbelievably empty and quiet, like a ghost town in parts. But there are heartening signs of growth and renewal as well, the unbeatable Kiwi spirit in evidence too.

One of the city's best loved landmarks was a casualty of the big shakes - Canterbury Cathedral. My blip shows what it looks like now, but click here and you'll see pretty much the same view from a photo I took in March 2008 before the quakes.
