Flower Spirit

Rock Water

Rock Water is the only one of the Bach Flower Essences that is not made from a flower; instead it is an essence made from a well or spring known to have healing powers.

Someone in need of rock water will experience rigid self denial almost without realizing it. You may deny your needs for comfort, fun, nice food, material possessions, joy, sex or relaxation thinking that these things are not spiritual or worthy.

People needing rock water often have restricted diets, deny themselves alcohol, have strict rules about how they live their lives and want everyone to know about it. They have an inner drive to be perfect and may avoid wheat, dairy or caffeine to feel more healthy and they will make sure that everyone knows about their restrictions. Part of the personality of the person needing rock water is a desire to help others by being an inspiration to them through their own high ideals. They don't realize that the very fact that they are so rigid can put people off instead of inspire them.

When you are in need of rock water you create a prison for yourself in which you are locked and are unable to be flexible, free and spontaneous. As rock water is taken, the rigid inflexibility eases allowing the person to be more spontaneous, joyful and playful - kinder to themselves. They realize that they don't need to be perfect or right or in self-denial. Indeed the pressure that puts upon them creates much inner tension. It really is a miraculous essence to watch people taking because it is a state that runs deep and subtly permeates every part of life. Rock water softens the personality so that more of the gentle flowing quality of water is experienced. It truly helps you to go with the flow.

Edward Bach described it for "those who are very strict in their way of living; they deny themselves many of the joys and pleasures of life because they consider it might interfere with their work. They are hard masters to themselves."

Today is Edward Bach's birthday - if he was still alive he would be 123 years old today. Happy birthday Edward, you are my hero and my inspiration. Today I have honoured you, your work in nature and thought of you with every crumb of the dense chocolate cake I devoured in your honour. And later this evening a bottle of White Wych ale will be drunk to toast your legacy.
