Enjoying the Sun in Tampa Bay, Florida

When we left New York this morning, it was about 28 degrees. When we landed in Florida, it was 84 degrees and not a cloud in the sky.

We stopped at a park on the way to the hotel and got this picture of what looks like a bird from the Heron family but am not 100% sure.

Can any of you birders out there please help me identify this?

I had hoped to comment this evening but the hotel Internet service is horrible. It took almost 10 minutes just to load this picture.
