The Factory

The winding gear has been wound down as we stagger to the Christmas Shutdown.
Tools cleaned and racked, there's a an overwhelming cleansing smell of WD40 in the air.
We are closing the factory a couple of days earlier than last year. There is no objection from the Factory operators. They are exhausted and , quietly, satisfied with their productivity.

Others, however are not.
The early shut down makes economic sense, but the Factory needs to earn.
So, the Salesmen still need to bring the orders in, The office staff still have to process the orders, Accounts will still be chasing money, the production clerks still have to plan. No rest for the white collar crew.

Upstairs, viewing the bigger picture, cunning and conniving takes place.
A better and brighter view lies ahead, at the start of the new year.

Everyone here has faith in the bigger picture, (with a raised eyebrow now and then)

There is hope, after all, this is the peoples republic!

I am not a socialist, I have no real political views. My father was a devout socialist (But never call him a Commie). He once said to me:
"The only way to make a rich man work harder is to pay him more, the only way to make a poor man work harder is to pay him less" Hmmm I wonder..
