en route to salima market

quite a different view at the lake. left the cottage grounds today for a quick trip out to see the market in salima town proper. just as we were preparing to leave for the walk, sam (business owner) informed us that two of the crew were bit by a rabid dog. fortunately they were able to contain and kill him before he inflicted further harm, but some who saw the whole incident unfold were distressed of course. not an easy thing to even witness, especially for those of us who love/have dogs, nevermind actually having to take action.

accidentally stumbled upon a group of muslims celebrating eid, and had quite a nice lunch with them in the sand. some rice and goat meat, both excellent and is hearty supply - first time i've been a part of the feasting that comes with the end of ramadan - i can only imagine finally being able to break the fast.

unfortunately had to make the drive back to lilongwe today. back to reality tomorrow, but what a nice weekend retreat!
