Priced to sell?

We went hunting an off cut of cheap Lino or carpet to go in the loft (as you do). Thought that Kidderminster, being the former carpet centre of the entire British empire might be able to get us something. But eleventy-nine showrooms later we decided to come back home and think again. These are not priced to sell - I think the showrooms would prefer to keep them stacked round their edges giving that homely look...

And then an absurd thing happened to us - we went to a car wash place, all was going great, then they guy started asking why I have a ring on my thumb. "Decoration" says me. He said he understood about wedding rings but not thumb rings, so we said yes and showed him our wedding rings. "Oh, that's good. But where are your husbands?" says he. "No, we're married to each other" says us. "That's nice. I've never met another female couple. But how do you do the sex?"

We politely told him that it wasn't an appropriate question to ask, paid him his money and left, chuckling. How odd. Diversity training required!
