The Seven Stars, Totnes

Scaffolding's holding The Seven Stars
enclosing memories of a wedding,
now spreading Christmas goodwill
spilling from a rooftop tree
celebrating shoppers and Totnes cars
whose side-lights defy the clouds' chill,
enfolding the town in damp, dark bedding
as early as half past three.

Took this photo from the car as we drove through Totnes on our way home from a Torquay shopping-trip. The Seven Stars is where our son and daughter-in-law got hitched just over two years ago. As today progressed the weather changed from still, mild and cloudy to cold, wet and windy. It was a long day out, and we came home to fourses - which is elevenses five hours late! - but then again, it will have been 11a.m. somewhere across the sea ...
