Mummer man

A member of Penny Plain Theatre Company at the Dick Whittington pub in Glouceseter, to mark the start of the
International Mummers Festival in the city this weekend.
Wikipedia tells us that Mumming is "seasonal folk plays performed by troupes of actors known as mummers or guisers". To me they look like Morris men who act, not dance, and they were great fun, and very photogenic, in a folky way.
I did this portrait when I was on a shift for the Gloucester paper, but I really hope to get back to see some more of these colourful characters. They are English history after all.
