Aquamarine/Nanna K's Day

Faces of Fiona #91

I was 10 when my aunt and uncle arrived at our snowy home near Chicago, having driven from their home in sunny Mexico City. It was 4:00AM a few days before Christmas when they arrived but the coffee pot was put on and the many boxes containing this clay mexican creche were opened one by one to my total delight!!! It became a Christmas treasure.. It’s pretty fragile now (that was, er, 1950 and who knows how old it might have been then...) and many pieces are broken or precariously glued together so we don’t bring it out every year. This year the King on the elephant was decapitated so he is glued and taped. And we’ve lost more sheep legs. Tatum has loved unpacking it in the past but Fiona has never seen it. This was the year. She was fascinated and kept going over to look and rearrange this very large family with so many pets.

The girls and I also made cookies and had pizza. Happy to be at home.
