Roses or tulips?

Mum was given five of these most glorious roses by her friend Mark's daughter Suzanne and family. The actual flower is very large, almost like a tulip, deep as a vase, tipped up and dipped in red. The parchment petals are strong and delicate at the same time, beautifully yet subtly veined.

I went this morning to collect Mum from hospital, had lunch with Mark and Suzanne and then we quitted Sydney for the mountains.

Dinner and Mum's just gone to bed, tired but holding up amazingly well.

What a brick.
