Winter Sun

The shrub that took my eye on today's walk into town was this Mahonia, bringing a ray of yellow sunshine on a damp dismal day. Checking online later, this could be Mahonia x media 'Winter Sunshine', one of the 70 evergreen species of this shrub, which blooms in the depth of winter. If so, it certainly lives up to its name!
