Sunbeams off Ailsa Craig

Whilst I was taking this picture from Irvine Beach, I bumped into a friend. Henry said that the sunbeam was, "The sun planting its feet onto the Earth". At least I think that's what he said - the racket of the crashing surf made it hard to hear anything else. The rock on the horizon is the ancient volcanic plug of Ailsa Craig. I used a Nikon D300s with an ISO of 640 so that I could use a shutter speed of 1/250 second. Anything slower was impossible because of camera shake due to the gale's effect on my ancient, frail frame.
