Toffee-scape

In a similar vein to yesterday I have created an other-world landscape out of a domestic event. In this case it was making brandy (actually, rum!) snaps to go with a pineapple and coconut icecream desert made for a visit by one of my daughters and her boyfriend. It was scrumptuous and I really enjoyed making it. I'm always amazed by the alchemy of melting sugar with butter, then hardening it into a wonderful solid toffee, in this case with striking patterns that seem to have a geological echo. It's all been eaten now and I'm feeling a bit sick!
