If you can't beat them...

The longest shortest day!

A fairly early start as we were going up to Edinburgh to collect #2 daughter and her partner as we are going down to Sheffield on Tuesday, to have Christmas with #1 daughter and the grandchildren.

The journey began in poor weather and with a detour to pick up CC's watch which she had left at a friends house. From there on the weather deteriorated with high winds and very heavy rain until we were passed Biggar. At times it seemed as if it would never be daylight. However we stopped for a break in a lay-by near Carlops and by then the weather was sunny and not too windy.

After the break we continued meeting #2 daughter in Morningside, delivered a couple of boxes to her work place and went to the flat to load up. After examining the damage done by the loss of her roof in the recent gales we started to load the car. While this was going on I took the opportunity to nip down to the canal and snatch a few shots.

Then another detour into Leith and finally on the way home. By this time it was getting dark, and as we drove south the weather returned to very wet and windy. A break at Abington services and home to Cumbria. Then having forgotten to put the meal in the slow cooker we had to set to and prepare an evening meal.

Finally I manage to get sat down with a glass in arm's reach and try to post a blip!
