Not quite a Christmas pudding

I don't make a traditional steamed Christmas pudding - none of my family particularly like it. Instead, we have a lighter version that's only made a few days before it's to be eaten. So today was the day for making it - except that I couldn't find the black treacle. And then I remembered...
I'm not a great one for 'best before' dates, but last year I slung my part tin of black treacle because it was 'best before' some date in 2002. That's a bit extreme, even for me!
I'll be going shopping in the morning...
