Back to normal

Or as normal as we can be.

I was saying to the Rower this afternoon that there are nowhere near as many insects around this year. I'm putting it down to the much cooler spring, and slower start to the warm weather. I haven't seen a single paper wasp so far, and only one Blue Banded Bee in the garden.

I'm rather think this is a mosquito, which just goes to show that they do drink nectar as well as blood. I've never really looked at a mossie too closely, preferring to kill the little beggars. As with all critters they have so much beautiful detail when you look at them closely. This flower is no larger than a nail head - and a small one at that, which gives you an idea of the size of the fly.

I've been bitten!
