Home Sweet Home

Saw the most amazing sight at 7:30 this morning: waiting in the left turn lane to enter the freeway going north, a convoy of yellow snow emergency vehicles sat idling. Out front were two enormous ploughs. Behind them, two truck blowers with blades as tall as me. In the center, a truck with a tank of liquid chemicals and sprayer. Bringing up the rear, two loaded salt trucks. I think they weren't kidding when they said there's more snow coming down the I94 corridor from out west. Crap. And just when I finally got everything cleared.

Mary Poppins and her family returned home last night to the missing cookies and note from Santa I left for her. Exactly what the arrangement is that he has with her parents, she isn't sure of but she is pleased, especially since her friend/now-rival-for-the-neighbor-boy's-affections across the street doesn't ever get a note from Santa. House to the south is empty, without a renter, so their path and sidewalk need clearing too. House to the north's occupants are in Kenya but fortunately they have the chatty relative taking care of snow. Squirrels are hunkering down in their treetop homes with eggnog and good books. I'm cooking a giant pot of eleven veggie soup. Let it snow.
