Commemoration

A fairly early Boxing Day walk down on the shore before the visitors arrived with the intention of finding this sculpture - 'Praying Shell' - looking out across the Bay. It would seem to be situated to commemorate the deaths of the twenty three Chinese cocklers out on the Bay in 2004 but that hasn't been emphasised that much in the publicity that has gone with it and whilst it is positioned with a lovely outlook, there is no indication of it being there from the shore or the nearby road. So, all in all, a very quiet commemoration.

We didn't follow our instructions and managed to catch sight of her first by accident as we walked along the beach. A circular route brought us back to her though and some good views across the Bay too.

The light was amazing as we first got down to the shore and I was pleased with quite a few shots across the sands but the choice had to be one of the one we had gone to find.
