Well, it reminds me of an eye. It's actually a cactus found up on Coatue here on Nantucket. While they are a species of concern, we found a good population of them in one area, numbering probably more than 1000 in a fairly large area.

Mmm, cactus fruit (it's Opuntia, not Peyote. Not psychedelic)
