Western Kingbird

I opened the garage door to make it easier to put some items in the back of my car when I heard the familiar call of a Kingbird. So I headed inside to get the camera. A nice opportunity to get a blip.

It is always a challenge for me to distinguish a Western Kingbird from a Cassin's Kingbird. They are very similar and late afternoon light does not help. After reviewing all the pictures, I am pretty sure it is Western Kingbird.

We are more likely to find the Cassin's Kingbird in the dryer canyon area of O'Neill Regional Park.
