Lake Mahinapua wetland

Woke up this morning to another wet, dreary day, and went to find some sunshine. We drove over to Hokitika on the West Coast, and walked along the old tramway trail through milled bush alongside Lake Mahinapua. The kahikatea wetlands are magnificent, and the scrub is regenerating well in the logged areas and even under the planted exotics. But best of all was to be out in the sunshine after dull days in Christchurch.
