Bird Photography - the lazy way

This is a blip created in the lazy way, in the warmth and comfort of my living room, shooting through double glazing, using the window frame as my tripod and shooting with a 200mm telephoto lens with a doubler attached. There can't be many more ways to degrade your picture quality and yet I am quite pleased with the result. he's just about to fly down to the bird feeder.

I find it incredibly difficult get the downy breast feathers of the goldfinch pin sharp and you have to make sure you focus on the head of the bird and preferably the eye as the autofocus struggles with the light tones of the breast. We're very lucky to have a load of goldfinch regularly visiting our bird feeder as they are such colourful birds with very distinctive markings.
