Christmas Day

*backblip*

When the children came down the stairs they found the bottom of the tree filled with presents! I was a bit embarrassed by the amount, actually... After they had opened them all the new bikes came down. I expected Chickpea to notice the lack of bikes as both her and Monkey had been given bike bells and Monkey opened a bike helmet but she didn't seem to. Too much excitement over everything else I guess! She did want to try her new pedal bike out straight away, though (despite being a tiny bit unhappy it wasn't pink or purple) while in her pajamas. She was even less happy to find that she had to get dressed and have her breakfast first.

I would say her favourite gifts were her bike, puppet theatre, and doctor's bag with a working stethoscope and blood pressure monitor from Grandpa Mike. Monkey's favourites were a port and battery powered train to go with his wooden train set, various animals and dinosaurs, duplo and lots and lots of books. He was a bit too small still for his balance bike but hopefully will grow into it it soon and will be zooming happily along with his sister.

After we ate we went to try the bikes out. Chickpea loved it even though she didn't quite have it down yet and we didn't let go of the back. They both found some puddles (puddles of doom) and were very happy playing until about 1 minute after this photo was taken and Monkey fell face first into one, covering himself with muddy water. It was a cold day and he screamed until he was warmed up back at the car. Chickpea fell only slightly after and was also cold and wet so we went home.

We enjoyed having a lovely Christmas dinner with Granny and it was wonderful having her here for the holidays! After we ate there was some marvellous after-dinner entertainment from the kidlets.
