Book haul

from yesterday's trip to Hay on Wye. Lunch at The Granary where the young lady who served us (one full English, one cheese and onion toasty, and crabcakes with bottles of Butty Bach) was so assured that we expect her to be the second female Prime Minister of Britain.

The well-informed lady in Murder and Mayhem was not only able to identify a bibliophile detective, but sell me a copy of John Dunning's 'Booked to Die'.

And we wish prosperity on the young couple with the stationery shop and it's wonderful curved glass door on the corner nearby. I hope I didn't disconcert him by insisting that I would take 'How to Sharpen Pencils' seriously. Especially the warmup exercises.
