Italy Day 14: Venezia

A final wander through the streets of Verona followed by catching the train up to Venice.

Settled in to the hostel on the mainland to discover that by chance I'd arrived just in time for the Festa del Redentore. The festival celebrates the end of the plague of 1576, which killed 50,000 Venetians, and begins with a spectacular fireworks display.

Caught the train across the causeway to spend the afternoon exploring the city and watching the locals taking their boats into the lagoon before finding a spot to watch the show. Perfect ending to the trip.
