confined to quarters

I probably overdid things on my two days of excursions, or got cold, or something, - the sore throat and painful cough are back.

Anxious not to miss my birthday lunch tomorrow I confined myself to my fireside with a hot brandy (or two) for the day today and am feeling much better this evening.

As it happened it was a foul wet windy day so there wouldn't have been any going anywhere anyway, so that was okay.
