From My Everyday Life

Meanwhile in Michigan

We found out on Sunday, the 22nd, while driving to Orlando, that our neighborhood lost power at 4am, along with about 500,000 residents of the state that day. The prediction was that power would not be restored until after Christmas. A neighbor, also without power, kept an eye on our house and would have shut off the water and drained the pipes to prevent frozen pipes if necessary. Lucky for us, the power came on about 36 hours later, on Monday afternoon.

Here's what a tree in our front yard looked like when we got back.
