I was reminded by the NT website that this was the last day that the Christmas decorations at Avebury Manor NT were viewable to the public, and as I hadn't taken any Christmassy pictures I checked the times online and drove over after lunch. Unfortunately, the website page had given the opening times but neglected to mention that last admissions were an hour earlier and I was turned away.
It was another of those dismal rainy days, but I did a tour of the stone circle in the fading light, avoiding the temptations of the Red Lion at the corner of the main road that bisects the circle, and took this picture looking back slightly wistfully towards it. However, I had a glass of red wine at a friend's on the way home.

Johnny Cash and Joe Strummer - Redemption Song (2001)
Joe Strummer died on this day in 2002 at the age of 50, at his home in Broomfield, Somerset. This touching version of Bob Marley's magnificent song was recorded with Johnny Cash (who died the following year to Joe).
