whisky problems

Having polished off a bottle of Glenlivet over a game of Scrabble (chased by a few beers), we turned to a bottle of Islay whisky that my six-fingered father-in-law, Ian Munro Mackay, ‘found’ in his wardrobe. Unfortunately, the cork disintegrated when I tried to remove it. I had a devil of a job fishing out the bits. Fortunately, it didn’t seem to affect the flavour of the malt too much. Or, at least, if it did, it wasn’t that noticeable at that stage of inebriation. The unconsumed malt was resealed with an old sherry stopper which was slightly too wide and had to be encouraged into the bottle neck with the help of a mallet.
