Kepler track part 2

Had another really beautiful walk on part of the Kepler track today - about 8 miles from Rainbow Reach to the Moterau hut and back again. Stopped at the hut to cook lunch, and ate it surrounded by about a dozen British soldiers, who were in New Zealand on a fitness exercise. (Beats war any day...!)

We had a quick look at the lake (Manapouri) and the hut warden told us that the small island we could see was the one they bring the baby Tokoeka kiwis to (from franz Josef), to let them grow to 1.2kg - when they can defend themselves against stoats, etc, so are relocated back on the mainland.

Walked back down the track and got talking to a Kiwi lady, Rosemary, who was coming the other way. Interesting woman - and obviously very adventurous, as she'd just spent a week kayaking and camping in wild weather. She recommended Miles Better Pies to us, so by the time we walked on, after chatting for a long while, we knew we had to go and get another pie on the way back!

Later on, had leftover chilli for dinner and went over to Lake Te Anau again to catch the sunset.
