Hogmanay at Carlops

Wow, what a night! Having heard about the amazing New Year celebrations here since before moving out, I'm amazed to say they were no exaggeration.

A hearty roast dinner set us up for the walk to the pub in next village along, where everyone from all the neighbouring hills had congregated.

A torchlit parade just before midnight took us down to the church, the bells rang in 2014, fireworks followed & then everyone packed into the village hall for a ceilidh.

This was all followed up by first footing all the way back along the road & cooking breakfast at ours for those still standing or en rote back to their own places.

We finally went to bed about 8.30am with big smiles & the knowledge that even if we've now taken on the crazy NMB NYD 'breakfast' we are now also bona fide community members

Happy days
