Some

eaters (Lord Lambourne) and cookers (Bramley) are keeping well in the cellar. Any damaged ones went up the hill to G., and into his cider vats to contribute to the 65 gallons he has made this year. Today we offered his tree some chanting and libations for a good crop in 2014.

Wassail, wassail about all the hills,
Let's drink up our cider to soothe all our ills
Let's drink up our cider, so golden and clear
And wish all of Malvern a happy New Year!

Here's health to the old tress with mistletoe dressed,
With shouts and loud voices, we'll wake them from rest.
Here's a toast to the orchards on hill and in vale,
So drink up your cider and a Merry Wassail.
