Nothing remains still

Can't go into the new year without both a walk and a bit of philosophy.

The walk took us to the Meadows, from where there's a grand view across to the castle. It's a favourite Hogmanay gathering place for the posh students who live in Marchmont flats, to watch the midnight fireworks.

Inevitably, this morning the place was littered with the wreckage left behind - and very posh debris it was too. Plenty of empty champagne bottles and Harvey Nicks carrier bags. I'm sure I spotted a half eaten side of smoked salmon.
