Alan the Caretaker

When I was leaving the ilab in the night I met Alan.
I was already in the elevator when I decided to ask him for a picture - so I returned and approached him while he started cleaning the floor in front of our office.

Alan is one of 250 caretakers who clean up the dirt we students and the staff leave over the day. Alan is doing this job for 17 years and works from 11pm to 7am.

According to him the job at least gives him time to think.
I talked to Alan for about half an hour about politics, unions, homelessness and democracy in the USA and Canada. It was a very interesting talk to him.
